GuideStone's Ministers and Chaplains Retirement Plan
The Ministers and Chaplains Plan is a 403(b)(9) retirement plan designed for self-employed ministers.
Who can participate?
Ministers who receive income from a self-employment ministry, a military chaplaincy, or a ministry with a for-profit employer or a not-for-profit employer may be eligible to take advantage of this retirement plan.
Types of plan contributions — tax-sheltered.
Tax advantages
- Tax-sheltered participant contributions are not subject to income tax.
- Tax-sheltered participant contributions by ministers are not subject to social security tax.
- Rollovers from other eligible retirement plans or Traditional IRAs are possible without tax consequence.
- Earnings on all contributions and rollovers are tax-deferred.
- Earnings on Roth elective deferral contributions can be withdrawn tax-free within legal limits.
- Retirees who are ministers may request a designation of retirement benefits as a tax-free housing allowance within legal limits.
